ICOC Nigeria Appoints Two New Evangelists

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction…But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry” — 2 Timothy 4:1-2, 5

Sunday, July 25, 2021, marked a special beginning of a spiritual journey for Two Churches in ICOC Nigeria Tochukwu Nwaribe and Tunde Omiwole were appointed as Evangelists in Owerri and Jos churches respectively.

While the Church appoints, God anoints! The South-East Bloc of the International Church of Christ, Nigeria is excited to announce the appointment of Tochukwu Nwaribe as an Evangelist serving in the Owerri Church. The ceremony was conducted by Kemi Olufowobi and Gbenga Atolagbe of the Port Harcourt and Yenagoa Churches respectively.

He was baptized as a disciple of Jesus Christ on the 3rd of December, 1999 in Lagos. Tochukwu led the campus ministry in Lagos from 2012 to 2016. He was called into full-time ministry of the International Church of Christ in June 2014 and was part of Lagos campus ministry staff from 2014-2017. The need to get a full-time minister to go lead the seed fellowship in Owerri, Imo State under the auspices of Port Harcourt church became imperative and Tochukwu was sent to Owerri to lead and grow the church in September 2016, He returned to Lagos after 5 months mission work where he was a part of Lagos campus ministry staff for two years and the leadership in their wisdom transferred him again to Owerri in May 2017 to go lead, grow and plant the church. The church was officially inaugurated on July 8, 2018.

Tochukwu got married to his gorgeous and beautiful wife, Glory in October 2017 and the union is blessed with two beautiful daughters, Aurora and Amazing.

It was a great day with lots of friends, families, and disciples in attendance

The joy of disciples in the Northern Bloc of the International Church of Christ was simply indescribable with the appointment of Tunde Omiwole as an Evangelist serving in the Jos Church.

The appointment was conducted by Shadrach Obasa, the evangelist of Abuja Church.

Tunde Omiwole was baptized and became a disciple of Jesus on October 22nd, 1995 in the Eglise du Christ Internationale d’ Abidjan. He was part of the team that led the Anglophone Ministry for seven years and playing a critical role in translating French to English over a ten-year period.

He later got married to his talented and beautiful wife Josee, an Ivorian, on September 28th, 2002 in Abidjan, and the union is blessed with two boys, David, Daniel, and a girl, Daniella.

Tunde and Josee were among the first and the youngest couples to be appointed as deacons along with others in the history of the Abidjan Church and have served at different leadership positions in Abidjan and the Abuja Church over the years. Before joining the full-time ministry, Josee worked as a Chef in an International Non-Governmental Organization (Medicine San Frontiers) and Tunde was running his own branding company as the CEO. Both of them gave up their secular careers to pursue the call to serve as missionaries in God’s kingdom.

They presently lead the International Church of Christ, Jos, Plateau State, Northcentral region of Nigeria.

We are so excited and elated that Jos and Owerri now have Evangelists, who prior to these appointments love God and his people deeply, and we wish to plead on their behalf that everyone upholds their names and hands in prayers as they serve God and the Church with heart, mind, spirit, and strength.
