“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” – Matthew 19:14
It was a fun-filled, colorful, and unforgettable celebration — the ICOC Lagos Children’s Olympics 2026! This wasn’t just any ordinary sports day; it was the FIRST-ever exclusive children’s Olympics, bringing together kids from ages 6 months to preteens for a day of laughter, excitement, and pure joy.
The adventure started long before the big day. We kicked off with regional trainings in 11 vibrant centers across Lagos, where the best little athletes in town were chosen to represent their areas. To make things even more exciting, we assigned each region a special color — making the entire event look like a giant rainbow parade! Kids and spectators alike couldn’t help but smile at the sea of colorful jerseys and flags waving proudly. the morning of August 8th, the day began with a heartfelt prayer — because what’s an Olympics without a little divine blessing? Then, the officials and coordinators, in true sportsperson spirit, led the march past, showing off their own race moves before the kids took center stage.

And what a stage it was! The Crawlers’ Race had everyone giggling as tiny tots zoomed across the track, showing that age is just a number when it comes to fun. Next up were the track events — relay races, 100m and 200m sprints — where kids dashed, cheered, and cheered even louder for their friends. There was Lime and Spoon, Needle and Thread, and Color Hop — each game more hilarious and lively than the last.
But the highlight? The “Catch the Train” race! Dressed in full Yoruba regalia, children ran like the wind to catch their train, celebrating culture and energy all at once. The sight of little ones dressed in colorful fabrics, dashing to beat the clock, was simply priceless.
A special shoutout to our medical team, who kept everyone safe and sound, and to Pocari Sweat, whose drinks kept everyone energized and refreshed. Thanks to their support, the fun never slowed down!

And guess what? The Ogba Agege region took home the bragging rights, finishing first, with Ojo Apapa and Islands coming in close behind. But really, everyone was a winner — because the day was filled with smiles, laughter, and new friendships.
But it wasn’t just the children having all the fun! Adults joined in with their own races — fathers, mothers, couples, and even the dads doing a back spin race! It was a family affair, and everyone agreed: this was a day to remember.
Thanks to God’s perfect weather and the support of sponsors and supporters, everything went off without a hitch. The day ended with hearts full of gratitude and hope — praying and dreaming that next year’s Olympics will be even bigger, brighter, and more fun!

So, here’s to the children, the colors, the races, and the unforgettable memories. We give all the glory to God, and we look forward to doing it all again next year. Until then, keep running, keep laughing, and keep shining bright in the love of Christ!
