The ICOCN South-East & South-South Ministry & Administrators Staff Retreat 2022
It was a three (3) day retreat themed “Sober reflection” and it ran from the 2nd through to 5th of January 2022 in the garden City of Port Harcourt.
The South-East Bloc comprises of six (6) churches; Port Harcourt, Owerri, Calabar, Yenagoa, Uyo and Aba while the South-South Bloc comprises of three (3) churches; Warri, Asaba and Benin.
The retreat brought together all the church leaders and their wives, the church administrators and board representatives from the two (2) blocs.
This is a great start for us this year as it is the first time that the two (2) blocs will be coming together for a joint event over the years.
It was specially and powerfully designed to keep all in a humble (sober) attitude as we reflect on the need to develop Christ’s character both within and without. To see through the eyes of Christ as we forge great bond, unity and love in all our churches through discipline and holiness. It is important that Christ gets a firm hold of us (the leaders) for Him to get hold of His church in other to build a strong, spiritual, united and mature disciples of Jesus Christ who will remain hungry for God each passing moment as the Day of our Lord draws nearer.
There was great news sharing across all the churches about God’s awesome wonders and goodness with a total baptism of 54 in 2021.
Great messages and insightful devotionals were powerfully delivered to guide and direct everyone’s heart to Christ. Kemi Olufowobi shared a message centered on the theme “Sober Reflection” while Laolu Karunwi and Gbenga Atolagbe shared on “Reflecting Christ” and “Remaining Hungry for God” respectively. Oji Ogbonnaya, Chibuike Dike and Williams Awotunde all shared inspiring devotionals on “The Most Important Thing”, “Discipline Servant hood” and “Be Diligent” respectively.
It was also a fun time as there was an organized volley ball tournament between the Port Harcourt volley ball team and the visiting leaders and administrators.
We are definitely looking forward to a great and amazing 2022 in all our churches in the two (2) blocs to the glory of God.
The MOST IMPORTANT THING for us as leaders is to have SOBER REFLECTION such that we could be able to REFLECT CHRIST in our lives through DISCIPLINE and HUNGER FOR GOD…..But this cannot be achieved without BEING DILIGENT.
AMEN!
