Lagos Church Appoints New Lead Evangelist Couple

On behalf of the Elders in Lagos, I bring you greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It gladdens our hearts to know that in spite of the global health pandemic and other challenges around us, the Lord continues to work powerfully in blessing His church.

As an eldership, and like Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 11:28, ‘we face daily, the pressure of our concern for all the churches.’ For the past two years, the eldership has been looking into ways to improve on our Church Health and Growth as a result, we have been praying and seeking God for direction.

One initial move that we find necessary, is the need to work out a new structure that will help our 28 WAM churches and leadership become more purpose driven and effective.

Beginning from Lagos, Chris and Rolayo Ogbonnaya, who have passionately led the Lagos church for more than 17 years, have been given limited roles which excludes leading the Lagos church. In their place, a new Lead Evangelist and Women’s Ministry Leader have been appointed.

Chris and Rolayo Ogbonnaya will cease to be Lead Evangelist and Women Ministry Leader.

Please join us to welcome Jide & Biola Ojo.

Jide & Biola were both baptized in 1992 & 1993 respectively.

Jide and Biola Ojo Currently Leads the Lagos Church

They started serving in the full-time ministry in 1997 January, shortly after they got married in 1996 November.  They are blessed with three children – Dammy (22), Funmi (19), who are both disciples and Femi (15). They were both appointed as Evangelist and Women ministry coordinator in 2004 while they were leading the Church in Warri, Delta State.

Since then, they have served as Evangelist and Women’s ministry Leader in Ojo-Apapa Region of the Lagos Church. They led the Church in Accra, Ghana from 2007-2012. Under their leadership, the number of Churches in Ghana grew from one to four with an additional seed fellowship in Takoradi.

Before joining the full-time ministry, Biola was working as a Nurse/Midwife in one of the private hospitals in Lagos and Jide was working in a Financial Institution as a Banker. Both of them gave up their secular careers to pursue the call to serve as missionaries in God’s kingdom. Jide and Biola have been coordinating the Marrieds and Counseling ministry of the Lagos Church for the past 7 years in addition to their role as the regional leader of Ojo-Apapa region of the Lagos Church. Jide is currently pursuing his Masters degree in Christian Counseling at Rocky Mountain School of Ministry & Theology.

Chris & Rolayo Ogbonnaya will continue as Lead Evangelist and Women’s Ministry Leader for Nigerian Churches as well as the Regional Family Chairman for West African Mission until his tenor ends as determined by the WAM Council.

Another slight change is that

  • Shadrach & Augusta Obasa have been given the extra responsibility to supervise the mission work in the South West Bloc in Nigeria.
  • Kemi & Nneka Olufowobi have been given the extra responsibility to supervise the mission work in South-South Bloc in Nigeria.
Shadrach & Augusta Obasa will be supervising the mission work in the South West Bloc in Nigeria.

Kemi & Nneka Olufowobi will be supervising the mission work in South-South Bloc in Nigeria.

These changes take effect from June 1st 2021.

We pray for all of us to embrace and support these changes with one heart and mind and that the spirit of the Lord continues to abide with us all.

God Bless You All! God Bless ICOC Brotherhood Of Churches!
