Article: 2019 IN THE HORIZON!
Returning yesterday from the just concluded Ghana leadership retreat, it is clear that there is a direction for 2019! It is so apt to use the last quarter of each year not only to take stock of the current year but also to make projections into the New Year on the horizon.
I did that last year in preparation for 2018, and the result has been humbling. I learnt some of this from one of my mentors. It was amazing to see him plan trips to 35 destinations ahead of 2018 and map out the content of each of the trips. I decided to imitate that level of long-range planning, and it has led to teaching trips and visits to 16 churches in 11 African countries in 2018.
I am ending 2018 with a deep sense of satisfaction to have invested time in building new relationships, strengthening old ones, sharing God’s Word and discovering new cultures/frontiers across our four families of churches in Africa.
The past two weeks plus in Ghana officially marks the last of such trips this year and opens the way to a new year with even higher expectations as a married man, an aspiring father, a Bible student, and teacher, etc.
What are your prospects for the New Year on the horizon? In just about three weeks, we will be ushered into a year, one that will lead us into the famous 2020! I believe 2019 will be a stepping stone into another great decade.
Great examples abound in the scriptures of great planning; Noah, Nehemiah, Gideon, David and King Jesus.
Let’s make sure 2019 meets us with a clear vision and plan to bring glory to God. If we don’t do so, then we are planning to dishonor Him. Or do you think this will happen by chance?
