FIND STRENGTH IN GOD
“…David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” (1 Samuel 30: 6)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Our Focal Scripture speaks of when David lost his wives and children and his men wanted to stone him. David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. The word ‘encourage’ takes its root from the word ‘courage’. So David added courage to himself in the Lord his God. Circumstances may have drained him of courage, and he regained his courage and confidence through God.
Friend, when circumstances drain you of your courage, find courage in God. When life throws stones at you, and when it seems that all hope is lost, find courage in God. Revive your courage in God; rekindle your hope by looking unto Jesus. Find strength in times of weakness by holding on to God. When enemies rise against you, remind yourself that God who is on your side is greater that any multitude that may rise against you.
After encouraging himself in the Lord, David fought back and recovered everything he lost. He regained his strength through God and he defeated his enemies. When you regain your strength through God, you will fight back and win every war that is against you. When you are drained of strength and you turn to God, He will give you strength to fight back and win.
Don’t accept defeat in the battles of life simply because circumstances have weakened and demoralized you. There is strength if you turn to God. The circumstances that are against you are not necessarily final. God can help you turn back the hands of the clock if you are willing to receive divine strength.
You may not find strength in men, but you will find strength in God. Connect to God and He will restore your strength.
Isaiah 40 vs. 29 says: “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”
Prayer: Lord, when my strength is gone, I will find strength in You, in Jesus’ name!!!
