Ikorodu Region Marks First Women’s Day
It is with great sense of appreciation to God Almighty that we the women of ICOC Ikorodu Region share the victories of our just concluded women’s day celebration which took place on the 6th of October, 2012. The whole idea started as a little thought in the heart of our woman leader, Mrs. Regina Ekwalla whose exemplary life encouraged and spurred us to believe that the event will be achievable and successful. The choice of the theme for the event was done by the leadership team (women) of the region. We individually brought forth different themes before we finally selected ‘Beautiful in Holiness’ We cannot but share how we depended on God in prayers.
The whole women engaged in 1 hour midnight prayer for one month. We were daily reminded to pray by Mrs. Ekwalla’s telephone flash few minutes to midnight. We had series of Bible classes taught by women to encourage and prepare us for the battle and victory ahead. We had our all night prayer time (night vigil) to also keep our lamps burning. Every woman was given the opportunity to serve and give their best in varying areas such as logistics, publicity, refreshment, entertainment, finance etc. God’s faithfulness was very evident before and after the women’s day. We started planning with no fund (money), but we can say to the glory of God that support came in from within the region, other regions of the Lagos church and friend outside the church.
We had surplus after the event just like how Christ had 12 baskets full after feeding 5000 people. There were also those that supported us in kind such as the beautiful decoration that gave the hall a royal look done by a sister in Ikeja/Ketu region. The women’s day started with glitz and glamour. The worship and praise was heavenly.
The peak of the event was the message of the day – ‘Beautiful in Holiness’ which was powerfully delivered by our guest speaker Mrs. Augusta Obasa (women ministry leader, Ikeja/Ketu region). She called our attention to the beauty that glorifies God, the beauty in true worship and reverence to God. Our friends trooped in despite the down pour.
God blessed us with close to 70 visitors in attendance to the glory of His name. All we have to say is thank you God.
