ICOC Nigeria Annual General Conference Held in Lagos
Saturday 24 June 2017 was another exciting time for the International Church of Christ, Nigeria as the churches all over Nigeria came together at the church facility at Surulere Lagos for the 2017 Annual General Conference.
The conference which was graced by disciples all over the churches in Nigeria was declared open by the church’s Board of Trustee Chairman Mr. Ndubuisi Eke. In his speech, the chairman welcome everybody to this year conference and gave report on how the church had operated both spiritually and financially from the last AGC till date. He gave glory to God for the grace given each person to combat with the economic hardship and recession ongoing in the nation. He further honoured God for the spiritual growth, confessions, conflicts and diverse family challenges that the church experienced and overcame.
In the 2016 budget, he recalled, bothered mostly on Leadership, Family and Mission and confirmed there was no deficit.
In conclusion, the chairman announced his retirement from the Board and expressed his profound gratitude to God Almighty for using him to serve and urged the church to continue faithfully in the race.
The Lead Evangelist, Chris Ogbonnaya in his report stated the spiritual life and activities of the church from the last AGC till date, listing the activities (Retreat, Meetings, and Bible Talks) which was successful throughout the last year. He also commended the BOT chairman and exiting members for their selfless service to God and His church through the years. Speaking of the Mission Statement, he admonished the audience with Ephesians 4:1-5 reminding them of binding force as one body, one spirit with one hope. Peace he said, always brings conflicts but as a people united in Christ, we continue to keep to the path of Jesus Christ as we continue to know God and make Him known.
In conclusion, Mr Ogbonnaya encouraged disciples to focus on visionary leadership and our vision 2020 as we all continue to strengthen membership base.
The church Administrator, Sam Onuoha, in his speech also gave the financial standing and report of the church for the last one year, analyzing both the expenses and income of the church. He furthermore urges disciples not to give up giving to God.
Thirteen employees of the ICOC, Nigeria who have attained 10-20 years continuous service were awarded for their contribution and effort with Long Service Awards. The recipients were:

For the 10 Years Category: Christie Edi, Onyinye Iwuoha, Bright Onyekaba, Abolade Abolarinwa, Lucky Orumwense and Olaoluwa Oni.
15 Years Category: Olaoluwa Karunwi
20 Years Category: Olajide Ojo, Biola Ojo, Margaret Obaje, Sam Onuoha
25 Years Category: Chris and Rolayo Ogbonnaya
The first session of the conference was rounded up with questions and answers which gave the congregation the opportunity to contribute also.
