SUCCESS STORY

A micro enterprise skill with loan transforms a small business

Small businesses leapfrog with loan facility

Shakirat Atobatele is a 32 years- old positive living widow, with 4 children registered with the organization under the ACCORD project. One of the children is also positive. At the time of registration into the project; she barely managed to feed her childern as she was too sick to make a living. Since she  was registered from a support group, at Mokola Ibadan, Oyo State, she was already accessing drugs , so we kept up adherence counselling for her.Two months into the program, she was trained on Micro Enterprise Fundamental (MEF) training by ICOC to scale up her small scale business. REPORT ON ECONOMIC STRENGTHING FROM an Individual (CHURCH MEMBERS) DONATION

Background

The ACCORD project has as one of its objectives, to increase the capacity of caregivers to care and support Orphans and vulnerable children. One major way of accomplishing this is being economically independent. This is the reason why the provision of economic empowerment is crucial to the success of the programme. In order to achieve this objective, we have source for funds both from individual and the project. We used the bulk fund RECEIVED from a church member in 2010 to empower 15 caregivers in Ibadan and 4 in Lagos. The purpose of empowering the caregivers is to make them self reliant and to strengthen their capacity to support their children…Report on IGA FOR SOME CAREGIVERS
