2015 ICOC NIGERIA YOUTH CORP – FINAL DAYS
2015 ICOC NIGERIA YOUTH CORP – FINAL DAYS
It was an Old School affair at the ICOCNYC 2015 Prom Party as the Campers immersed themselves in dancing and partying all night.
Stepping out in their different old school costumes, we saw the afro wigs, palazzo trousers, akpolla shoes – just think about what fashion was like in the 60s. The Prom party this year is said to be one of the best ever. It was new and totally creative.
The Ultimate Man – Henry Emmanuel-Emeh from Bull Platoon and his co-hosts; Ore, Cynthia, Kamsi, David Ebony, Demilade, Timilehin and Andrew anchored the programme of event which included but not limited to, fashion show, dance competition, best old school dressed couple, best old school counselor.
Some of the Platoon members received award of excellence for Most Serving, Most Sociable and Most Well-behaved categories.
However before the Prom started, the Platoons had opportunity to present their camp project for the year which is – Building for Tomorrow. The task was to build a Pyramid and each Platoon built uniquely to illustrate the diverse potentials, ingredients, characters, virtues and knowledge involved in building.
Presenters of the project helped the audience to understand that they had a Building Project and were ready to work together as a Team, they also knew that what they had set out to achieve will definitely be opposed and frustrated and for that reason they equipped themselves first. They also understood that their dependency is on God and God alone that is why they prayed fervently and continue building against all odds. Finally the building was completed and conclusively, each man learnt that there is … No Gain without Pain!
Bearing this lesson in mind, they are now ready to go back to their various families, schools and society to take the bull by the horn; not only to build their lives alone but help others too.
At the end of a truly memorable and impacting 2015 ICOCN Youth Corps Camp, the Bulls Platoon carted home the first prize as best overall Platoon. The closing ceremony followed shortly as Camp Director, Olaolu Karunwi extolled all who participated in the Camp experience and encouraged them all to continue to build on the foundations of Christ in whatever place they find themselves.
