Ogba/Agege Region Celebrates 2015 Women’s Day

Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Psalm 84:4

It was a day of jubilation and thunderous praises to God as the women of Ogba/Agege Region of the International Church of Christ (ICOC) rolled out drums to celebrate their Year 2015 Women’s Day. As early as 9am, the Fanlot Group of Schools, Off Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway, the venue of the event, was thronged by joyous women from different works of life who adorned themselves with colourful attires in Gold and Green.

The Women’s Day with the theme: “Noble Woman: Wise Builder” was packaged with life transforming activities to accelerate spiritual growth, unity as well as create awareness on cervical cancer and Christian sex education to enable women discharge their duties efficiently as women, wives, mothers and sisters in God’s Church.

In her Welcome address, Mrs. Esther Cawray the Women Ministry Leader for Ogba/Agege Region, praised the women for making out time to come out en mass to celebrate the Women’s Day. “How good and pleasant it is when women gather together in unity. You can always tell who the strong women are. They are the ones that build each other up rather than tearing each other apart. This programme is aimed at stimulating spiritual growth, unity, fun and enlightenment on issues that are close to the hearts of women,” she said.

In the Message titled: Taming the Tongue by Mrs. Weyinmi Igbinoba, the women were called to a life of purity and godliness. Speaking extensively from James 3:1-11 and 1 Timothy 4:12, she exhorted the women to speak with wisdom, and utter words that are able to build each other up, thereby edify the Church. In an emotion-laden voice, Mrs. Igbinoba reiterated the importance of unity, which could easily be broken when sisters gossip and slander one another.

The high points of the event were the Health Talk on Cervical Cancer by Dr. Ajayi and the Split Classes by Mrs. Stella Emeka (For Marrieds), Esther Cawray (Teens & Singles) and Mrs. Igbinoba (Women of Valour).

The Women were enthralled by the classes as they were eye-openers. With various responses at the end of the classes, the women poured encomiums on the speakers and unanimously resolved that, it is high time women rose up to build for God in every area of life.

With many fun-filled activities laced with drama, sumptuous and melodious songs by the Choir as well recitation, the women’s spirits were lifted. The Women’s Day Cake was cut amidst exultant laughter, praises to God and delightful fellowship with one another.
