Ezra 1:1-4: In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and to put it in writing: “This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: “’The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah. Anyone of his people among you-may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem in Judah and build the temple of the Lord, the God of Israel, the God who is in Jerusalem. And the people of any place where survivors may now be living are to provide him with silver and gold, with goods and live-stock, and with freewill offerings for the temple of God in Jerusalem”.

This was how Day Two began as early as 6am today as all campers tried answering the big question: DO YOU HAVE A BUILDING PROJECT?

All campers, during their respective morning devotions acknowledged that God is the first example of having a building project illustrated in the above passage of Ezra God’s own building project. They emphasized on the various areas they need to build in their lives, great friendship, transition into the campus and singles ministry, studying the bible, getting baptized and becoming Disciples, career, etc. There are hundreds of ‘building projects in progress. It was indeed a refreshing way to start the day.

The drill! Waoh, the music, super! We had fun this morning especially when Uncle John got everyone drilling with his dance steps. Some say we just had to continue the drill but time was of essence as other activities were lined up.

We had our breakfast and immediately split into two classes for Teens and pre-teens classes which were all about BUILDING. These classes were activity-based and each group represented the lesson by building various things.

The second session was also a split class as the Campus Minister, Emmanuel Emeh and the Teenagers embarked on a historical journey called Church History for DUMMIES. You could have thought that the subject may be too ambiguous for the Teens but to my joy, this class was so interactive that the Teenagers began to reaffirm all the facts and values of ICOC regarding Discipleship, their explanations and feedback to the class confirmed that indeed they all understood the values and principles of Christianity.

After this class, we had CRAFTS and thanks to Uncle Solomon and Auntie Vera who were at their creative best, we learnt about paper craft and bead craft respectively. It was just fun and exciting as we also had the opportunity to showcase our creative skills.

And that is how we all found ourselves again on the field.

We watched, as:

The tigers were charging,

The elephants marching towards them

The Eagles did not hesitate…wings spread and ready to takeoff

The Wolves hunting on…. but did the Bulls surrender?

Well what happened in the camp field today…..

Watch out for next details in Day Three…

This is where we say… goodnight from ICOC Nigeria Youth Camp, Lagos
