About us

A family of churches following Jesus together

Our history in Nigeria begins with the planting of the Lagos Christian Church in 1989 by 20 Christians from the London Church of Christ. The Christians, some of whom were Nigerians and some Britons came to Nigeria with the primary goal to spread the gospel of Christ to as many people as possible in Nigeria.

From this humble beginning the Church in Lagos remained steadfast in the desire to spread the gospel across all Nations, it has planted so many other Churches not just in Nigeria but also in the West Africa Sub-Region. Thus Churches have been planted in Asaba, Abeokuta, Abuja, Benin, Calabar, Ibadan, Ilorin , Ijebu-Ode, Jos, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Warri, Uyo and Yenagoa.

Others are Accra , Bissau , Banjul , Conakry , Cotonou , Freetown and Njamena.

Today through the dedication and sacrifice of these men of faith, the Church has continued to grow. The membership of the Church in Lagos is about 2000 disciples and staff strength of 35 people. The Church in Lagos is divided into Ten Regions and several family Groups spread across the whole of Lagos and its environs.

The International Church of Christ takes the issue of helping the poor and the less privileged very seriously. Benevolence is an integral part of the Church. The Church in Lagos and in all the other cities where the Church is located is involved with helping the needy within and outside of the congregation ,in the areas of shelter, food clothing and education. The Church in Lagos for instance is involved in meeting needs in some homes such as Modupe Cole Memorial Center for the handicapped, Akoka, Beth Torey Home, SOS village Remand Home in Ikeja and Idi- Araba.
