A Mighty Man of God Goes Home to the Lord – The Passing of Paul Okolo

By Emmanuel Koffi, September 6, 2018
Our beloved brother in the Lord, Evangelist Paul Okolo, peacefully passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018, after a long battle with renal failure.
Paul Okolo was converted in his native Nigeria in 1992 and quickly grew in his passion to serve and sacrifice for the work of advancing the kingdom of God. In 1996, he was chosen to go to the Liberian refugee camp in Ghana and form a mission team to plant a church in Monrovia, Liberia, a country that was just coming out of a horrific 14-year civil war to bring the much-needed peace and reconciliation that only the gospel of Christ can offer. Under his leadership, the Monrovia Church grew quickly and today is a mature church of over 500 members.
In 2002, Paul came to the neighboring Ivory Coast, for further training. There he met and married Sabine and they continue serving, working in the full-time ministry and HOPE worldwide respectively.
For the last nine years, Paul’s health steadily declined, yet he never wavered in his commitment to Christ especially the preaching and teaching ministry; it was during this time that Paul was instrumental in the creation of Abidjan’s Bible and Ministry School and was appointed Evangelist in 2016.
Sadly, after a long battle and many complications, Paul’s suffering was such that the Lord decided to call him to rest.
We would like to thank the entire family of the Churches of Christ for your fasting, prayers, sacrifice, moral and financial support during Paul’s illness.
Ecclesiastes 8:8 teaches us, “There is no man who has power over the spirit to contain the spirit; neither does he have power over the day of death.”
