Be Prepared In All Season

2Timothy 4:1-8

While reading the book of Timothy (2nd Timothy to be precise), this question strolled into my mind. Could it be that Apostle Paul’s letter to Timothy is practically meant for this present world? And I have this answer “the word of God is ever active from ages to ages”

Look at vs 3-4 he says “for the time will come (Which I think is here now) when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

So what are you thinking?

Could it be that civilization is affecting us or we have too much knowledge that we currently have some ways of manipulating the scriptures now just to suit our own wants, desire, purposes, pleasure, selfish interest and so on?

We know the truth but the truth is no more setting us free because we have educationally manipulated the truth. We are just too wise in our own eyes!

People don’t want to follow sound doctrine anymore, and at the same time they don’t want to leave this sound doctrine.

People want to listen to what their itching ears want to hear because of pleasure, arrogant, pride, self-centeredness, self-interest and many more.

But in all these, this is the charge Paul gave to Timothy

Vs 1-2 says “In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

He said be prepared in all season, correct, rebuke and encourage…

My questions for us Brothers and sisters,

How can we be prepared in all season?

What knowledge do we need to be able to correct, rebuke and encourage with great patience?

The answer is very simple: we need quality time in God’s word!

It’s from his word we will have what it takes to do all what he asked us to do.

Look at what he said in vs 5 “But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

Keep your head in all situation, don’t be easily carried away with false doctrine, endure hardship, do the work of evangelist, reach out to those that are weak around you (You know them), do all what is require from you in your ministry, you can start from this group brothers, when asked to lead the discussion give no excuse(s), it is your duties, stand firm in what you believe (The TRUTH) and this is what will happen

Vs 6-7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

This are my own questions, please you can ask yourself too

Will I be bold enough to say I have fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith?

Will I have confidence to hope for crown of righteousness?

At the end of my race here on earth, what will be said about me?

Amen.
