2015 ICOC NIGERIA YOUTH CORP – DAY FIVE

Today started with a milestone celebration as Camp Directors, Olaolu and Abiodun Karunwi celebrated their 10th Wedding Anniversary! Everyone stood fixated as Olaolu, once again re-proclaimed his vows to his beautiful wife Abiodun and shared passionately how the past 10 years have been the best for them.

If you think going to Las Vegas or Paris to celebrate your anniversary is the bomb, consider doing it in a youth camp. I have never seen anniversary so fun and exciting like this.

Ibeju Lekki residents have been wondering about the new light illuminating the vicinity since the ICOC Nigerian Youths arrived on Sunday. So today, 13th day of August 2015, some of the Camp officials, the Lead-evangelist of the Nigerian Churches, Chris Ogbonnaya and the three Elders of the Lagos Church led representatives from the 5 Platoons including the camp officials to reach out to the Community of Ibeju Lekki.

Ibeju Lekki is situated on the Island part of Lagos harboring one of the popular orphanages in Lagos, RACO CHILD CARE INITIATIVE that caters for Orphans and widows.

ICOC Nigeria was privileged to know this Institution through Mr Tafa Oloyede and Mrs Janet Okuyemi whose passion for the orphans and destitute led us to share the day with them.

Opening prayers was said by one of the orphans in the Institution who thereafter took us on a tour within the premises; introducing the teachers, students and other workers in the School.

They were all overwhelmed by the various gifts of food stuff and provisions the ICOCN Youths presented to them. Two of our campers encouraged them by offering prayers to God to keep them strong and alive so that they will become men and women of substance in the nearest future.

We arrived the camp ground at 13.40hrs and something hot and delicious was already waiting on the dining. Porridge, fish and chicken’ it was so delicious that I went for extra portion.

TUG OF WAR IT WAS INDEED!

The Elephants and Wolves combated until the wolves went down

The Eagles and Bull Platoons competed

Tigers dug it out with Elephant Platoon

The Eagles soared on wings so high that no other platoon could reach them as they won in the Bible Bowl with an outstanding point of 40. They proved that they studied word, verse and chapter of the books of Ezra and Nehemiah where the questions were set from.

Something new, extraordinary and legendary will happen tomorrow when only one winner will emerge in the ‘ULTIMATE SEARCH’

But they question is…….

Who is the most daring?

Who is the most analytical?

Who can solve puzzles and decipher codes?

Who will the Ultimate Man be?

These, you will find out just before the prom.
