2015 National Worship Leaders’ Conference ends with Easter Fiesta

The first ever National Worship Leaders Conference of the ICOC, Nigeria themed ‘Excellence in Worship’ ended in Lagos on Easter Sunday 5^th April 2015.

The conference, which aim is to offer our people a diverse palate of worship expressions, with the goal of helping everyone connect to and experience the immediate presence of the Almighty, was graced by worship leaders across the country and commenced 10.00am on Friday 3rd of April, 2015 at the Ikeja/Ketu Facility.

In his welcome address, Gilbert Kimeng commended all the delegates across the country for their presence at the conference and also acknowledged the passion and devotion of the organizing committee towards the success of the conference. He further charged and urged the delegates to be filled with the heart of worship and open their heart for new lessons to be learned about worship. Concluding he encouraged them that the natural response to God’s goodness in our lives is to worship him with all our heart, mind and soul

The conference, which also had in attendance two worship leaders from the church in Chicago – Dave Eastman and Jaime Turish, was divided into difference categories:

• The Regional Coordinators (Worship Leaders)
• The Sound Engineer/ Instrumentalists and
• The Choristers

The 3 days conference came to conclusion on the Easter Sunday as disciples across the Lagos Church and all the delegates across the country came together in a thunderous worship and hymnal service. The service saw the choristers and the congregations rendering various hymns in remembrance of Christ.

The communion talk, which was the sermon, was delivered by Dave Eastman. He explained what it means to worship God without any obstruction.

Isaiah 40:25-26 (NIV)

²⁵ “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. ²⁶ Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

He talks about worshipping God reverently and that all eyes need to be focused on the majesty of God. He further stated that God expect us to think of our actions as we come to worship him (i.e Shout for joy, come before him with joyful songs, enter his gate with thanksgiving and his court with praises, give thanks to him and praise his name).

In his closing remarks, Elder Iyamu Omoruyi acknowledged the congregations for their heart of worship, commends the worship leaders from the church in Chicago and encouraged the congregations to wait behind for the Easter Fiesta.

At the Easter Fiesta event, many talented disciples from various churches showcased their amazing talents. It was amazing to see Dave Eastman singing purely in local Yoruba dialect (Oluwa, Eyin Latobiju), and Jaime Turish taught the church a new song (Click here to watch the videos)

In his votes of thanks, Frank Okodugha who is the Deacon for the Lagos Church Choir encouraged all the delegates to put into practice all they learned so as to build a better music ministry to the glory of the God Almighty.
