Lagos Holds Forum for Family Groups Leaders, Deacons and Elders

A special forum of Elders, Family Group Leaders and Deacons in the Lagos church was held on 8th March 2014 at the church’s facility in Surulere.

The objectives of this forum are to improve the relationship between the leadership and the rest of the church and also for leadership empowerment and development.

In his welcome address, Elder Omo Iyamu reminded the group on what was discussed at the last meeting which includes, need for good strategic communication which he said have four qualities – honesty, understandable, openness and frequently and also evolution of the elder-ship in the church and the need for more elders. He reminded them that leadership is not about entitlement but a call to work and that they have a responsibility to prepare God’s people for good works of service. (Ephesians 4:11-13)

After the address, a stirring class was taught by Elder Imagbe Igbinoba on Leading by Example (1 Timothy 2:12). He called the gathering to lead by examples rather than words. Nothing is more demoralizing for the flocks than a leader who does not lead by examples and breeds lack of enthusiasm, excitement and drive. He urged all to focus on three key areas of leadership which are leadership in faith, family life and finance.

After his class, there was time for feedbacks from the family group leaders on their family groups which led to the next class titled Church Growth Discussion by Elder Isreal Ereola who listed the terms of reference for a disciple which are loving the Lord (Matthew 22:37), loving one another (John 13:34-35) and loving the lost (Matthew 28:18-20)
