Philip Gets Baptized in Oshodi/Isolo Region

‘No one can come to me except the Father who sent me draw him….’ (John 6: 44).

This statement of Jesus came alive in the life of a teenager Philip Atime who has been studying the bible for close to two years!

Philip Atime is a Senior Secondary School 2 student at Nigeria Army Secondary School, Oshodi. He was believed to be of strong character. But he is loved by many of his peers and even adults. His case caught attention of many in the church especially in the leadership group; this made one of the deacons to encourage his son to become Philip’s friend. This friendship started to grow to the point that Philip would go spend days and weeks during weekends and holidays in his friend’s house. His attendance at the teen’s devotional became consistent, he started playing drum sets during the service on Sundays and several things kept changing about him. Even his reading has improved within a short period.

After some time he volunteered himself to study the bible again and he promised he would not go back. This promise was kept and the outcome of the bible study was noticed by the mother and many in the church, Philip has turned a new leaf!

In 2011, he was to represent his region at the Teens Got Talent Show (Season 1), he absconded, but due to the bible study and positive peer influence, he was part of the team that took second position at the last Teens Got Talent (Season 2).

On Sunday January 13, 2013, two years after he first started studying the bible, Philip Atime made a public good confession that Jesus is Lord and he was baptized into the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins.

At the water of baptism were his family with the mother being full of joy and thanksgiving to God and disciples of how positively her son could be influenced in the church as against bad behaviours he’s been learning from outside.
