Almost 6,000 volunteers graced the 2011 Great Walk as ICOC Nigeria continue to draw attention to the plight of the underprivileged in the country.
The annual charity event organized by the benevolence arm of the Church which celebrated its 10th anniversary walking for charity last year and was flagged off by the wife of the Lagos State Governor.
The annual 10km walk in Lagos kicked off at the Maryland Comm High School through Ikorodu Road and ended at the Tesilim Balogun Stadium in Surulere.
The theme for the walk is “Support a Child; Build a Great Nation” and focus is on the plight of children who are Orphans, vulnerable to abuse, violation and are use as street hawkers.
This year’s Walk also propagated the Child’s Right Act and Child Protection Practices.
